About Wunderlich County Park: Wunderlich County Park comprises 942 acres of steep mixed forest and meadow land. It consists of three general areas: a lower area of boarding stables, riding facilities, and a horse ring which was the Folger Ranch complex: an open meadow midway up the slope of the park; and then extending up through beautiful canyons and a running stream and numerous springs through dense second growth redwood groves; an upper meadow area at a general elevation of 2,000 ft. There are exceptional vistas found in all directions. Park hours are from 8:00 a.m. to dusk.
Hike Description: We made an approximately 6.5 mile loop starting at the park entrance. The hike began walking through the beautiful Redwood Forest traveling uphill along the gentle slopes of the Alambique Trail and Redwood Trail passing through Salamander Flat, Redwood Flat, and The Meadows connecting to The Crossroads via the Bear Trail and Bear Gulch Trail. Except for a half-mile section of the Alambique Trail, we returned along different trails that connected us back to the parking lot. This hike was a little over six and a half miles, and took us about three hours.
